Ahhhhh the Pool!

Francie and Tom really love the pool. It is also a great way to wear them out so they sleep better. Tom has slept past 7am the last two days, hopefully a trend that continues. The song, by the way is, "Cool for Cats" by Squeeze. A totally rad 80's British band, that has a lead singer who actually sings with a British accent. A rare thing, indeed.

This is just more of the same, minus the song.

Cool New Toy

I had a wonderful Father's Day. I got to sleep in, play golf, then spend time with my entire family. You can't ask for much more, yet I got even more with a cool new toy from Emily, Tom and Baby #2. I finally have a cool, little handheld camera that does videos. We took video #1 last night.

Here is the set up. For years and years, all the Anderson kids (cousins included) were terrorized by a thing called "The Bear Trap". Basically the Bear (my dad) would grab you and not let go. You had to stop squirming around until the Bear falls asleep and loosens his grip. Then you could get away. The Bear would always wake up just as you got far enough away so that he couldn't get you. Apparently this went back even further to my great uncle Bill, so the Bear Trap has got some history. As you will see in this video, the next generation is not afraid of bears.

Now check this out....I can make this video look like a music video thanks to my cool Father's Day present.

Pretty cool, no? So, expect more videos, possibly with music, in the future. On a separate note, thanks for all the comments on my previous post. We have not decided yet which date to choose, but August 1st seems to be the people's choice. We'll let you know once we pick a date.

Baby #2 Check-Up

Everything is going well with baby #2. We have to set a date for a C-Section, in case she doesn't come early. So we have two choices of dates. July 30th or August 1st. It is kind of strange picking a potential birthday, and we are probably over thinking it a bit.
Our doctor did say that for Soccer or Swimming, July 31st is a BIG date. If you are born on or before the 31st, you will be the youngest person on your team. If you are born on August 1st, you will be the oldest. I certainly want my daughter to dominate, so I am leaning towards the 1st. But, that seems like a silly reason to pick a date. How about this, Tom was born on November 1st, so it would be easier to remember her birthday if she was born on August 1st? I think Emily is leaning towards an earlier date because, 1) she is starting to get uncomfortable lugging around all this extra weight and 2) the 1st is a Saturday, hospitals are usually pretty crowded on Saturdays.
Either way, we just don't know which way to go....any ideas out there in blog-land?

Left Over Destin Pictures

These first two pictures are from the morning we left Cincy for Destin. We were so innocent then.
Look how excited I am to get going! Ha Ha.

Tom really was excited, he likes the car.

Tom liked burying my feet in the sand. Hours of fun.
Yes, we look tired, isn't that what happens on vacation?
Our little man went from a turkey dog to a hot dog. (Pale to Red)
Just chillin.

First Time on the Beach -- SUCCESS

Tom's first time on a beach as a "walker". (He was on Siesta Key, but at 4 months, I'm not sure that counts)

We Made It

Today might have been worse than yesterday. The kids were D-U-N, done. We were only on the road for about 4 hours, but it felt a lot longer. Fortunately, (well for me), the kids were in the car with G.G. and Hi-Pop. By the time we got here, the grandparents were tweeked, the kids were tweeked, the parents were ready to drink.

The good news is, we are finished driving for about 10 days so now we get to try and relax. The alcohol is helping, so is the beach. I'll do my best to update the blog this week. This will be Tom's first time on the beach and in the ocean, so that should be fun.

Here is a video of us driving on the Mid-Bay Bridge. It goes over the bay to the actual city of Destin. I apologize for the cheesiness of the song on the radio, it was not planned, but we were rocking out to Mr. Phil Collins and it just worked out that we were on the bridge at that moment.

The First 8.5 Hours

Well we are on our way to Destin, in the car, for 14 hours, with 2 toddlers and a 11 week old. Yes, it is as fun as it sounds. Here are two videos to show our progress so far. We are 8.5 hours in and stopping for the night in Birmingham.

The first video is our first stop, about 2 hours in, look how happy everyone is:

And then, a short 45 minutes later we had moved on to this....

I switched cars about an hour later. Honestly, it has not been too bad, but we have another 4 to 5 hours to go tomorrow, so check back for updates then.
