A Weekend Away

Emily and I spent our first weekend away from Tom this past weekend. Surprisingly, we did not catch up on any sleep, in fact we actually got less. It was hard to leave him and the first hour of the drive was sad, but we managed to make it through all that and get to our destination. We went down to Pinehurst, North Carolina for my cousin Christopher's wedding. Pinehurst is a very picturesque city. When you think of an "Old Southern" town I can't imagine anything coming as close as Pinehurst. Big houses with huge porches and a very laid back atmosphere. Our hotel was extremely nice and everyone was so friendly. We had a really good time.

I got to play golf on Pinehurst #3. The US Open has been played on #2, so I felt like I was very close to where Tiger has played. I know I at least hit from the same driving range.
The wedding was perfect. Chris and Johanna had a live band, tons of good food, and a packed house. I think everyone had a blast. It is always good to catch up with family. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

I am getting pretty bad with keeping up on the birthday thing. These last two are even more glaring since I was at the birthday party a few days before the actual birthdays. So...

Finally, I had my first official Father's Day as a father. It was a fun day. I got to watch some golf, swim at the pool and Emily and Tom got me a ticket to the Red's game tonight. Very nice! We had dinner at my parent's house that night to celebrate.

Yummy Cous Cous!

A few posts back I mentioned that we had Cous Cous at a party. I love Cous Cous, and Emily makes a Cous Cous dish that is one of my favorites. Well a few days after that post we got a nice letter from my Aunt Chris (who lives in San Francisco with my Uncle Jon) with some Linden Tea and a recipe for the above shown Cous Cous dinner. It was really good. I think I ate about 3/4 of that bowl on my own. It looks like Tom is not too interested in the food, but I could tell he wanted to try it, dad's just know these things :). Anyway, just wanted to post the picture and let you all know, if you are a Cous Cous (I love saying that) fan, we have a couple recipes now that are sure to please. Thanks Chris for 1) reading the blog and 2) sending us the recipe and the tea.

So You Say It's Your Birthday???

First, on the 31st our friends MaryAnn and Brian Spurling had their first child, Jackson Glenn Spurling. So Happy actual Birth Day to Jackson.

Second, Happy Birthday Carolyn! My "other Mother" celebrates her birthday today. She is just a little bit older than Jackson.
