Talking Thomas

Tom has picked up some new words this past month. I think not having an ear infection every week has really helped him understand us a lot better. (Duh, right?) Here is a list of the words, as best as I can remember them:

Apple = He now knows exactly what an apple is.
Hot = Tom learned what "Hot" means when he touched a light bulb...OUCH!
Up = He uses "Up" less and less. Now he just pulls on my leg and holds his arms up.
Hat = He has got this one down cold (pun fully intended)
Round and Round = Ceiling fans, wheels, washing machine
Baby = He says baby to any other kid, older or younger
Baba = Sippy cup or Mommy. He says MaMa sometimes, but more often then not it is BaBa
Vacuum = This was Tom's first word and first love. He still says it 100 times a day.
That = He has not quite figured out "L's" so this means light.
Da Da = He finally knows da da means me.

New Words

Tuck = Trucks. He has really started to take an interest in all trucks.
Bow = Boat. Our friends the Hunkler's gave Tom some bath time boats and he loves them.
Wawa = water. Mostly he means bath water, which he tries to drink all the time.
Nana = Banana. Close enough for me.
GG = My mom, whose grandma name is G.G. (Grandma Gail)
I-Pop = Hi Pop, my dad's grandpa name
Ooons = Balloon, another Tom favorite.
Hi/Bye = You guessed it, Hi and Bye.
Helyo = Hello. Tom will say this every time a phone rings.
Kees = My car keys, a no no that he always seems to find and play with
KeyKa = Kitty Cat. He loves animals too.
Raaw Raaw = Dog. He makes the noise of a dog barking.

I think that is it for now. I'm sure I am leaving a few out, but at this point it is getting hard to keep up with him. He is getting very good at repeating what we say. I guess that means Dad is going to have to watch what I say while watching the Bearcats/Reds/Bengals.

Hello Baby #2

Emily had her 19 week Ultrasound this morning. It was our first chance to get a look at Baby #2. We were both a bit nervous for this trip. Thomas was an extremely active baby in the womb. By 15 or 16 weeks, Emily could feel him kicking a lot. Well we are on the 19th week and Emily has not felt much movement with this baby. Everything else has been normal, but that one little thing was enough to scare me (the nervous dad). So I was more anxious than anything going in to this appointment.

Well, everything is perfectly fine. The reason she has not felt much movement is because her placenta is in front, which is acting as a sort of shock absorber. So while the baby is moving and kicking(we actually saw it move on the ultrasound screen), Emily is not feeling it as much. That should all change in the next 3 weeks, when the baby is bigger, but it was good to hear that from the doctor.

We also found out the sex. Well, not quite. We have an envelop from the doctor which contains the baby's gender. We have yet to open it. I think we will break down within the next 7 days and find out. We just weren't ready to make that decision right there at the office.

So, all is good with Emily and Baby #2. The due date is still July 30th.
