Snow Day

For those of you who don't live in the Cincy area, we had our first "big" snow of the year this week. I think the final tally was around 8 inches, plus half an inch of ice in between. Thomas was too young last year to know what was going on when it snowed, so this was his official first snow storm. In the picture above, he is trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue. He seemed to like the snow, until he fell face first into a snow pile. Then he just wanted to get inside...can you blame him? In the background you can see me hard at work clearing off the sidewalk. Back in the day, I could shovel for hours and it wouldn't effect me at all. Yesterday, after 25 minutes, I couldn't bend over to untie my boots. I hate getting old!

Baby A #2 at 13 weeks

Just a quick update on Baby A #2. We saw the doctor yesterday. Emily is around 13 weeks, so we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It took a minute to find little Baby A (about the size of an orange), but finally we heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was good and strong and the doctor said everything else looks great.

By the way, this was the only appointment I missed when Emily was pregnant with Tom. I remember being pretty bummed that I did not get to hear his heartbeat for the first time. Anyway, it was both nerve-racking and awesome. That 30 seconds to a minute when the doctor couldn't find the baby was a little scary, but I'm glad I got to be a part of it this go around. If you can't tell, I'm a nervous, hyper sensitive dad.

LOST - SEASON 5

I have no clue who's kid this is, but if you are a fan of LOST, like me, you have to love the Dharma "Changing Station" onesie. It is now my goal to find this onesie and purchase it for either Thomas or baby A #2.
By the way, last night's premier was AWESOME!

Is That a Softball in Your Stomach or Are You...

Well, I tried to be coy about announcing this in a earlier post and only one person (The Blog Inspiration) picked up on my hint. So, for those of you who have not already heard, Emily is pregnant with #2. We are about 12 weeks in now. The baby is due around the end of July. If you want to see where the baby is, developmentally, click here.
So far, this pregnancy has been very different from when she was carrying Thomas. Emily has had a lot more morning sickness and is way more tired. She also is craving fruit a lot more. We had our first doctor's visit a few weeks back and are due in again the last week of January to hear the heartbeat and all that cool stuff.
So, now we are trying to wrap our heads around how we are going to handle having another mouth to feed and body to take care of by the end of Summer!?!??!!?! Should be a lot of fun, I'm serious! :)

Book Club Holiday Party

Last Saturday, Emily's book club had their annual holiday book exchange party. Samir and Ami hosted this year at their beautiful home in Montgomery. The theme of the party was Mexican, so we had the Guac, Salsa, and Tacos in full effect. The kids were also invited, so Tom got to enjoy a night out with Mom and Dad. It was a great time.

Emily has been in the book club for as long as I have known her. This is an amazing group of women who have all accomplished so much in their lives. Emily and I are so happy to be friends with all of them and their families. We look forward to this party every year.

Is it really 2009?!?!?

Remember when we were little and the year 2000 just seemed so far away? That was 9 YEARS AGO! I thought we would at least have the beginnings of the flying car by now. I mean, Back to the Future II takes place in 2015, so if we want to live up to those standards (hover boards/flying cars/JAWS 19, etc.) we better pick it up.

Our New Years Eve was pretty lame this year. None of us made it to midnight. Tom was out by 8, Emily by 10, and I made it to 11. Tom did wake up at 3 to welcome in 2009, so that was fun. I imagine some of you all were just going to sleep at that point. New Years Day was a little more exciting. Grandma and Grandpa Moore watched Tom so Emily and I could have some free time. Well, we have reached the point where we don't know what to do with free time. After some shopping, we were just kind of stumped. We settled on going to the movies. We saw "Yes Man" starring Jim Carrey. It was actually pretty good. It was just nice to be at a movie with Emily. After that, I hunkered down to watch UC play in the Orange Bowl. I'd like to say I was happy at the end of the game, but for the first time all year, our offense played really bad and our D could not get off the field. So, 2009 did not start off with a win. I hope this was just the first of many BCS Bowl games for my Bearcats.

As for resolutions, well I haven't really thought about it too much. I think being a little more organized this year would help everything. Being more organized should free up more time, which is something I would love to have. I'd also like to get better at fixing things around the house. I think I have made leaps and bounds in this department since I married Emily. Her dad is Mr. Fix-It and he always includes me in any home repair project at our house. So, I've gotten better, but I want to be able to do stuff without calling Mr. Fix-It every time. So that would be another resolution.

If I think of anymore, I'll keep them to myself. I hope everyone has a great 2009.
